Info

You understand, but freeze when it’s time to speak?

It’s the most common problem our students come with. They spent years learning words and rules, yet still lack the confidence to hold a conversation. That’s why at Speakvia you speak, first and foremost, from lesson one.

Freezing up whenever you have to speak

You speak from minute oneIn a safe, friendly atmosphere and at your own pace. Mistakes are part of learning.

Dull workbooks and memorising word lists

Real language from real sourcesArticles, BBC News stories, songs, book extracts and debates.

Learning grammar rules by heart

Grammar that grows out of conversationYou learn to think in the language instead of translating sentence by sentence.

Lots of effort, but no real progress

A plan built around your goal and levelEvery lesson is tailored to you, and regular reviews make sure what you learn sticks.

The direct method

You learn a new language the way you learned your first one: by talking.

No translating from your mother tongue. You listen, respond and discuss, and gradually start thinking in the new language. Grammar and vocabulary come in exactly when you need them in conversation.

We teach through conversation and speaking. After all, our school is called SPEAKvia.

  1. Free trial lesson

30 minutes to get to know the method. We check your level and set your learning goal together.

  2. Vocabulary before class

Before each lesson you get a set of words and phrases that you then use in conversation.

  3. Conversation in class

Dialogues, debates, presentations and authentic materials. You do most of the talking, while the teacher guides and corrects.

  4. Review and progress

We revisit material from previous lessons so it stays with you for good, not just until the next test.

About me

Katarzyna Hudecka

Founder of Speakvia · teacher of English and Polish as a foreign language

  • Philology degree
  • TEFL certificate with distinction
  • Business English

Working in an international environment taught me that the key to learning a language is using it every day. That experience shaped my own teaching method, which puts communication first.

In my classes you speak from the first lesson, even if you’re a complete beginner. I especially enjoy helping people preparing to work for international companies: we practise industry vocabulary, emails, meetings, negotiations and job interviews. I also teach Polish to foreigners who want to feel at home in Poland.

FAQ

Before you sign up

What happens in the free trial lesson?

It lasts 30 minutes. You get to know our method, we check your level and set your learning goal. Afterwards you decide whether to continue. You pay nothing and sign nothing.

Can I start from zero?

Yes. Beginners speak from the first lesson too. We adapt the pace and materials to you.

How do online lessons work?

We meet on a video call. You get vocabulary before the lesson, and in class we work with a presentation and authentic materials. A computer, tablet or phone with internet access is all you need.

Can I learn Polish if I don’t speak any yet?

Yes. Polish lessons for foreigners can be explained in English, so complete beginners are welcome.

Do you teach children?

Yes. We teach children, teens and adults, including preparation for Polish school exams (8th grade and Matura).

What’s the difference between one-to-one and group lessons?

In 1:1 lessons the whole programme and lesson time are just for you, so results come fastest. In a group of 2–4 you discuss more with others, and each lesson costs less.

Your first 30 minutes are on us.
